Remembering A Legend:
Sadly, in 2008, after a 10-year battle with cancer, George Csendes of the G.S.G. Auction Service, passed away at the age of 80. George touched the lives of many people in one way or another. Some may remember him for his (sometimes bad) jokes or clowning around at the auctions. Some may remember him for his more serious side as a business person and caring family man. Most will remember him for his outlook on life. No matter how bad the situation, he always found the "silver lining". It was that positive attitude that kept him going for all those years, and why most never knew he was sick. And while "the show must go on", as he always said, the auctions will never be the same without him. He may be gone, but not forgotten.
George Csendes was one of the original founding members
of both the Garage Sale Gallery & G.S.G. Auction Service.
Certified professional auctioneer, Scott Csendes, is a 1998 graduate of the Continental Auctioneers School in Mankato, Minnesota. His auction skills were put to the test only weeks after graduation, and he has been calling auctions ever since. He not only serves as head auctioneer for the G.S.G. Auction Service, but also works regularly with several other auction firms in the area.
The G.S.G. Auction Service is a large division of its parent company, Garage Sale Gallery. It was founded in 1998 as an additional outlet for people to sell their merchandise through our company. Up until then, the Garage Sale Gallery was turning down many of the larger calls, due to space constraints. The auction service gave our customers another option. Since then, the G.S.G. Auction Service has rapidly grown to become a full-service auction company that handles all types of auctions. No job is too big or too small! Depending on what you have to sell, we can hold a public auction at your place or ours. We have the resources available to handle large estates & complete business liquidations, but unlike many auction companies, we have our own Auction House to handle the smaller jobs.
As with any successful business, we have learned to change with the times. With the overwhelming presence of "online" auctions that have emerged over the past couple of years, we have learned, embraced, & have now implemented this new auction format.
~1928 - 2008~
While our family has been conducting auctions since 1998, we have actually been around the industry for a much longer period of time. We learned the auction business first as auction buyers, before slowly working our way up the ladder & transforming into the business you see today! While we still concentrate most of our efforts towards Southeast Michigan & the surrounding communities, we now offer liquidation services nationwide!
